Meet Yu-Shan Huang
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
A mental health professional offering therapeutic services in both English and Mandarin Chinese
I'm a San Francisco based therapist licensed in California. I grew up in Taiwan and moved to California in my early adulthood. Living in the between of two countries helped me expand my awareness and develop skills around the intersection of cross-cultural issues and relational traumas.
I work well with adults who grew up from emotionally unavailable caregivers, couples who struggles with communication/ connection/ intimacy and cross-cultural conflicts. I support clients in connecting with their feelings and authentic selves to build a more balanced and healthier relationship with others and oneself.
As a queer Asian therapist holding both privileged and oppressed identities, I value diversity and honor each individual's unique identities and strengths. I strive to create a collaborative and individualized therapeutic process for you. My therapeutic style is compassionate, genuine, non-judgmental, culturally sensitive and queer affirming.
I am also a drama therapist, so depending on your readiness and interest, I may integrate embodied, interactive and experiential methods in an attuned and playful manner. It provides opportunities to express yourself in a variety of ways and gain different perspectives on issues.
